Where Are You?

No idea… been so busy with life. I have not had time to update the blog.

Jonah had ear surgery a week ago, he is doing awesome! PTL. I will update more soon! I have some stuff floating around in my head. I also have a review or 2 left to blog before I am done reviewing items. I just don’t have the time these days, though I LOVE reviewing things.

Thoughts…..

Sitting here listening to the baby cry, the boys doing their thing, and my husband making us a late night dinner.

I think about our past, present, and of course our future.

War has erupted in the Middle East. I have to stop and think, what does that have to do with me? Well, if you are saved, nothing. Your home is in Heaven and it is just a matter of time!

Revelation 3:3   Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

We know the end-times are near.  So near, while I am not scared. I am thinking what if’s… What if Jesus comes back and I am not doing what I ought?

Witnessing, winning souls for his kingdom? What if I have something on the Hellavision that is not acceptable. What if…..  What if my children are really not saved? Though they say they are, what if my husband is not? My granddaughter? See, I think a lot. I know what I need to do with these.

Are you ready for the Lord to come back? I know I am not. I look forward to hearing the trumpets sound and not the horn from the race track. There is a funny story about that….Casey, my darling daughter was sitting in van while I was getting gas at Tops back in NY. Well, next to Top is the Batavia Downs. They were fixing to start a race and their horn goes off. Casey starts screaming and gets out of the van. She said Jesus is COMING… JESUS IS COMING! She was SOOO Excited! It broke my heart to tell her that it was not the horn for Jesus.

I think about the food I am putting down my throat and how that is affecting me. The same with the drink. I think about what music is playing. Is it Godly? Or, is it from the devil?

I think about all kinda of things and then I forget about what I was thinking about before I wanted to write. My brain was headed in a different direction. But seems the Lord directed this post and not i. I have so much I need to learn. God is so good.
If I remember what I wanted to write about, I will come back and amend this:).

Review: Saving Memories Forever

First of all, I have to admit, this was hard for me. I am a photographer by nature so I record my memories by photo. And I guess I hope that I will remember who is in the photo, or what the place was that we went to, and what we were doing.

I said all of that to say, I was picked to review Saving Memories Forever. It is a GREAT concept and would be perfect for someone who picks up that tape deck to record what just happened, or what is now a digital recorder. It would be great for someone who might be sick and want their young children to hear their voice. Someone who is maybe auditory. I am not. I have to visualize things.

Saving Memories Forever is easy to use. You can use it on your phone, at least if you have an Android or an Apple phone. Or, if you do not have a smart phone and you can go right to their website and save your memories from there.

Best Method: Saving Memories Forever Smartphone Apps: The iPhone and Android apps lead you through the recording process and provide you with a list of questions which are helpful when interviewing relatives. When finished with the recording, press the Upload Button and your story will upload to the Saving Memories Forever website. See the Quick Start Guide for the iPhone and Android apps below.

Alternate Method: Saving Memories Forever Website

*  To record and upload stories directly from your computer, your

stories need to be recorded in an MP3 format. Please refer to our

Quick Start Guide listed below.

*  Use Saving Memories Forever Online User Manual which goes

beyond the basics to describe the features of the program in detail.

Please refer to our User Manual listed below.

*  Use our list of questions. See the Suggested Questions links

below. These questions match those we have provided on the

Saving Memories Forever smartphone apps. Using these questions

ensures that you will follow the organizational practices that

Saving Memories Forever recommends. Don’t worry, you can

always ask your own questions when recording.

Basically, you just talk into your phone, tell a story of what you were doing, what you have done in the past, what you want someone to remember your for. A story you would include might be the birth stories of your children, when they fell and cracked their head open and needed 30 stitches on their head the day you were to have a funeral for your mom. ( cue Jonah).

Saving Memories Forever have 2 ways of how you can do it. You can do it for free, and they have a monthly access way. Still quite affordable at $3.99 a month. You can find out what the differences are here.

Saving Memories Forever has been found in Home School Enrichment Magazine, as well as popular bloggers out there.

All in all, it is a great program. It is just not something I will use to save my memories.
I think the company says it all right here….
“Saving Memories Forever helps families record, save, and share family memories “one story at a time”.

Review: Spanish for You

So, I had a great opportunity in reviewing a Spanish curriculum. Like my last review, I have decided to not to begin using this program till our new year starting in August. However, as I have been researching out our curriculum for our year, I know that this is going to fit right in.

Unfortunately, this blog post will be void of photo’s.  Sorry. And, I am very LATE , so much apologies to both Spanish for You, and to Heidi and Brenda at Mosaics.

I have looked it over several times since getting the curriculum in the mail. I was sent the Fiesta collection to review. I am very pleased with it.

What I LOVE about Spanish for You is that it is affordable. It is fun, and it is easy to use. Concepts are easy to understand, and are learned through the different themed packages they have available. You can do them in any order, and you can use it with whatever grade you are teaching. All of your children can be doing it together.

It has even been featured in some famed homeschooling publications such as The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.

Spanish for You has packages that start at $9.95 for a four-week trial all the way to the full curriculum for grades 3-8 for $64.95. Where can you get 6 grades worth of work for less than $65.00? No where, right?

What you get is:

ALL Spanish for You! packages come complete with:

  • soft cover book or e-book (currently only our trial pkgs.)
  • 24-30 week lesson guide for the grades you need (24 weeks for G5-6 & 7-8, 30 weeks for G3-4) (PDF download)
  • self-checking worksheets (PDF download)
  • audio files of entire book (includes bonus audio of native speaker of entire book) (MP3 download)
  • flashcard/activity pictures (PDF download)

Spanish For You even has FREE links to some mini lessons and worksheets. Awesome!! Who does not love FREE?? You can find the mini lessons here, and the worksheets here. If you look, there is a ton of things for free! Again, I think this is going to be so awesome for our classes next year. I will have a 7th grader and a 6th grader.

Debbie is wonderful and is always at the ready to answer a question! She has a great “About” section that tells a little about why she started Spanish for You and what her background is. She even has a blog.

So go on over to Spanish for You, and buy the curriculum. You will NOT be sorry, I PROMISE!

Apologia Homeschool Planners Review

I have had a great opportunity to review 3 planners from Apologia. I was really excited about them.

I still am.

I have gone over them a few times since receiving them in the mail. I kept telling myself to start them.

I should back up and say what the wonderful, awesome folks at Apologia sent me to review.

In the mail, I received the Ultimate Homeschooling Planner.
the-ultimate-homeschool-planner

An undated planner for us busy homeschoolers. Within the pages, you are going to find a how-to guide. The planner contains monthly pages as well as weekly pages. The Author of the planner Debra Bless included area’s to record goals, blessings, and all sorts of due dads.

This planner is going to help you plan your life daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly. I really enjoyed reading through this planner.

I have not put the planner to use. Since we were already half-way through the year, I decided to hold off on using it till next year. I really wanted to utilize it to its fullest. It does come in two styles of colors. The one above is the one I received and reviewed.  As I was going through this, I noticed verses, little bits of hymns, and even quotes from some famous and not so famous men and women such as,

“He that has trained his children for heaven, rather than for earth– for God rather than for man– he is the parent that will be called wise at the last.” ….J.C Ryle

No truer words have been spoken to be honest with you. I might even Facebook that quote, I like that very much.OK, so I did. I did Facebook that quote. I had to,

The next planner I was blessed to review is the Ultimate Weekly Planner for Teens. A mighty planner I might say. It really is a neat planner for these teens. I have one that I am schooling. Well, he will be a teen in a month.

the-ultimate-weekly-planner-for-teens Just a GREAT resource. Within the planner, you are going to find, an All About Me section, likes and dislikes. Love it! It will get my son to thinking. It has monthly calendars that are not dated. It also contains weekly planners which breaks it down into subjects and how long is spent on each task. It contains a clear ruler with some info on it.

The planner contains a neat timeline of US history that seems accurate. I have not checked the validity of it. It has a college admissions timeline, as in when the student should be checking into certain things. Such as, when to start reading challenging material. It contains a list of great books for college. This planner even has stickers. Yes folks, stickers. Even our teens still like them. I know I did.

Again, I have not used this planner as of yet. It will be used this coming year. I am so excited too!

Last, I was able to review The Ultimate Daily Planner for Students.  Another wonderful resource for my students. My son Jonah will be using this next year as we begin a new year.
the-ultimate-daily-planner-for-students

It has scripture written across each page, it has an about me section, a future me section.  Guidelines for good writing in middle school. It has monthly calendars, and weekly calendars. Even a spot to fill out if you have had quiet time for the day. Has a spot for grades and even a world map with the current political boundaries. I think it is going to do Jonah well when we begin to use these.

All three of the binders are made with a durable plastic cover and back. these are not going to fall apart with normal wear and tear and use. I am so excited to start using them in August as we start the new year.

My overall impression is that, it is a wee bit expensive. Especially if you are schooling more than a couple of children. For me, the price is not horrible. You check them out here!
